what is the function of a circuit breaker ?how does the circuit breaker function during normal operation of an electrical system
Answer Posted / abhishek pandey
The function of circuit breaker is to protect the power system equipments from the abnormal condition like high fault current flowing through the line due to line-to-line fault or line to ground fault. Circuit breaker breaks the circuit by isolating faulty part from the line and making the equipments safe.
During the normal working condition, the circuit breaker is in closed condition i.e; the fixed contacts and moving contacts present inside the circuit breaker are in contact with each other and allows normal current to flow through it.
