What is the major difference between P.T. & C.V.T ? Why CVT
is used in HT Transmission line in place of P.T.?
Answer Posted / ramesh
Major advantage of cvt over pt
1).
Size of transformer is reduced if we use cvt over pt
For high transmission voltage line like 66kv and 220 kv we require higher sizes pt step down the voltage
While if we use cvt it will be smaller.
Pt is used for 33kv and 11kv lines
2.) Testing of line fault is easier in cvt than pt.
