Actually turbocharger works by turbine which is fixed at exhaust valve. Due to pressure excerted by exhaust gases at exhaust valve make the turbine rotate where it is coupled with compressor.By this power can be saved from engine , air can be compressed and can be inject to the cylinder.
Initially car starts turbine cannot rotates due to lack of pressure at exhaust valve as speed increases pressure increases
then turbocharger works.( SPEED SHOULD BE OPTIMUM)
when speed is too high pressure of exhaust gases are high leads to damage of turbine so to avoid this waste gate is provided which opens automatically when speed is too high so
that exhaust gases can flow through waste gate
(example: we can see that at the back of scropieo car has word "turbo" -shows that having turbocharger system)
