What is point of contraflexure ?
Answer Posted / ajay partap singh
point of contraflexure is a point where bending moment changes sign in bending moment diagram. On the one side of this point there is sagging and on other side there is hogging or vice versa. This helps to find out where reinforcement should be changed. As on one side sagging means tension is on lower side so reinforcement is on lower side and on other side hogging means tension on upper side so reinforcemrnt is on above side. So significance is that bending moment is in opposite directon hence position of reinforcement can be precisiley determined.
