When the potential difference is gradually increase across two conductor, than at one stage the atmospheric air surrounding the conductor is subjected to electro static stree.
And if the potential difference still further at one stage arrives when a faint luminous glow of Violet colour appears together with a hissing noise.
The whole phenomenon hissing noise the Violet glow and production of ozone gas is known as corona... ..
