In case of high pressure turbine specific volume is less so single pass design performance is satisfactory so no need to further reduce the size by double flow designing.that's why in
super critical power plant IP turbine is also single flow type.

They are always redundant and connected through diode so that if one power supply fails the other can take the charge immediately.so it is possible to replace one of them in running plant if the other one is healthy.
