what will happen if diesel engine make to run with petrol

Petrol and Diesel are very different fuels. Petrol is much lighter than Diesel, evaporates easily, is less oily. Typically it is C9H20.
Diesel in contrast is much heavier, evaporates very slowly, is much oily. It is typically C14H30. It is less volatile than Petrol.
Diesel is ignited by compressing the air to a very small volume. This heats the air up. The diesel is then sprayed and combustion starts. There is no spark plug in a diesel engine.
Whereas petrol is ignited by a spark (that's what a spark plug does). In a petrol engine, the air and petrol are mixed beforehand and are then injected into the combustion chamber and compression follows. The spark plug is then triggered to initiate combustion.
In a Diesel engine only the air is sucked in and compressed. At this high pressure, diesel is sprayed in. Now if you put diesel in a petrol engine, the mixing will not be good (because diesel is not as volatile and will not form droplets and vapors as easily as petrol, in fact diesel is fairly viscous) and the spark plug cannot initiate combustion.
Further the auto ignition temperature of petrol is about 300 deg C and the temperature after compression in diesel engine is about 700 deg C which is higher than petrol, making it tougher to burn. It has a higher flash point. The Flash point is the lowest temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable mixture with air. The flash point of Petrol is -43 deg C and that of Diesel is 52 deg C.
Above all the engine faces detonation (knocking) problems when petrol is made to run in a diesel one due to its high compression ratio(9:1 to 10:1 for petrol engine & 14:1 and 22:1 for a diesel engine).
