What is a transistor. Can u explain the basic operation of
it??????
Answer Posted / siva priya
Transistor is 3 terminal semiconductor device. Transistor can act as switch and amplifier.
there are 3 configuration for transistor biasing.
1) Common base
2) common emitter
3) common collector
biasing is technique, provide proper voltage to transistor terminals to make it work.
common emitter configuration is mostly used for switching, CE configuration is good in current, voltage and power gain.
In CE configuration, input is base current(normally micro ampere) output is collector current( inverted milli ampere range). current gain is normally 100 to 300 range. current gets amplified. obvious voltage too amplified.
switching application of the transistor is working saturation and cut off region.
