what is the role of reactive powerin transmission and
distribution?
Answer Posted / rakesh patel
Reactive power is also known as wattless power. it means with help of this power load can't develop any type of output.
so the main role of reactive power in the system is to just push up the active power upto the loads.if value of the reactive power in the system is less to its level, amount of active power is decrease to its rated value. it means rated valtage can't be supplied to the load side and whole system is totally ustable. and if this type of condition is to be continue for some time, blackout also should be possible.
