It is unsafe for stepping down a high voltage to low voltage
in an auto transformer, if an open circuit develops in the
common portion of winding then full primary voltage will
appear across the load which could be dangerous to both the
persons and the equipment.

why the earth is taken minimum in supplying? wather it the proportional factor to getting work any equipment or a power plant?
