Why Power generation in India is at 50Hz while in America
its 60Hz so is there any advantage/Disadvantage of this ??
Answer Posted / pratap kumar
In India the electrical system is come later as compared with U.S. USA is choose 60hz frequency for 110-120v. The losses are increased in any machine by increase the frequency. but the voltage is low as compared with India. then the voltage loss occur in machine is low when compared to India.but the frequency losses are more . My conclusion is in India the machines are supported to 240v,50hz for cover the losses and in U.S is 120v,60hz respectively.
advantages for USA supply
1: it is safe from shock hazards because the voltage is low
2: suppose the supply is grounded less power is loss as compare with India
the above two points are disadvantages for India
suppose we use 60hz with 240v it is very dangerous and it cause more losses in machine.
