what are active and Passive Components?

Answer Posted / joseph p. v.

Passive Electronic Devices include Resistors, Capacitors,
and Inductors which modify the current in the circuit and
have a fixed function value. Eg a 10k resistor has the same
value throughout its use.

Active Electronic Devices inlcude 1N, 2N, and 3N
semiconductor diodes transistors and SCR which modify and
control current in a circuit by way of changing
electrostatic forces in the device. The diode has an
electrostatic field in the junction that allows current to
flow in only one direction. The transistor has an
electrostatic field that can be biased so that it can switch
on or off the current or control it. The SCR can control AC
current.
