as per books and experience
1.scavenge space are provided to entry of fresh air to the cylinder and avoid contamination of lube oil and fuel oil
2. when lube oil and fuel oil gets leaked it accumulated in this space
3.due to leaky piston ring or broken piston ring ,hot gas from the piston top side flow to the bottom of the piston where theese oil are present and fire occurs.
if it happens then engine must be reduced to slow rpm then stop,
supply of co2 or steam to extinguish the fire
then wait for cooling naturally
open the scavenge door provided and inspect for the damage
