what is the difference between 5v capacitor and 5v battery

Answer Posted / sajad ahmad mir, physics schol

5V Battery is that holding can in which chemical reaction produce +ve and -ve ions which develop potential difference (voltage) of 5V across the electrodes (different metal plates)inserted in chemical solution(electrolyte). Also this voltage minimize but slowly in a large span of time. That is why it is used in Radios, mobile phones, computers etc., where it should work for long periods.
However on the other hand a 5V capacitor is that holding can which develops 5V maximum potential difference across its ends separated by dielectric(polarizable material/space like air/Vacuum etc)that too in presence of electric field and quickly discharges in a very short span of time. That is why it is used in motors, electric fans, etc where high potential is ofcourse required when motor is about to start but for short span of time.
Let me conclude with these words that in battery chemical reaction takes place for the production of 5v or some potential difference across its electrodes and persists as long as chemical(electrolyte) will be exhausted. While in case of capacitors no chemical reaction takes place but due to coulomb electrostatic force charge separation (polarization) takes place for the production of 5V or some other potential but discharges it in a blink of time.
