why we prefer LED as light source insted of Laser in FSO

in FSO we can use either LED or LCD.
LED prefer bcoz of its response time is in microsecond
whereas for LCD it is in millisecond.and also operating life
of LED is much more than LCD approx 1 lakh hour.
