The rotor current is directly proportional to slip. How?
Answer Posted / ashli
emf will be induced in a conductor only if there is a
relative motion b/w magnetic flux and the conductor.. when
ac supply is given to the armature of an induction motor a
rotating magnetic field is created(at synchronous
speed).now an emf is induced in the rotor winding and it
starts rotating. the direction of rotation is same as that
of rotating magnetic field but speed less than than syn
speed.. ie the relative speed b/w the rotor conductor n
rotating magnetic field is the difference b/w rotor speed
and syn speed ie slip. emf induced in the rotor and hence
the rotor current depends on the relative speed or slip.
that is how the rotor current becomes proportional to slip
