Which mechanical device is used in pressure gauges to reduce
pulsating

Answer Posted / sajid ali khan

First let me correct the Question itself a little. It
should read " Which mechanical devices are used to minimise
or dampen pulsations in pressure gauges".

Answer:
Process Pulsations expecially those at the dicharge od
reciprocating pumps can be very problematic for
measurement. The pulsations can also make pressure reading
difficult.Frequently, they can even damage pressure gauges
beyond repair and it is important to curtail these such
pulsations.

Normally three devices are used.1) Pigtails, which are
simply a mild steel pipe or Stanless steel tube bent in a
full circle, it is installed between the pressure tapping
and the gauge, with inside diameter a little less than the
tap dia. The Process Pressure dampens while traversing
though the pitail.
2) A restriction damper, that has sometimes a variable
restriction of a conical piece inside a matching chamber.
The process pressure has to squeeze throughh the annualar
space and demapens.
3) A hollow cylindrical chamber, that acts as capacity to
reduce the pulsations.

We Have Two Field bus Pressure Transmitters of Different Sensor Range (I.E One is of Lower range and Another is of Higher Range). Is same Process Line. My Question is Can i provide Saturation Limit to my field Bus Transmitter as We can provide Saturation current limit to HART Instruments. As During Low Pressure Both Working OK ,But During High Pressure, transmitter with Lower sensor range Goes to Fault mode as Beyond its Sensor Limit it can Measure, So may I provide Saturation point Some where to Suppress This Fault during High Pressure.

dear friends, i have seen flow as the selection critriea in presure guage (bourdon tube) and i would like to know what is the relation between flow and performance of pressure guage other parameters i found in the data sheet are pressure max. 1ksc temperature max. - 50 deg c line size - 80NB operating range - 1ksc pr. guage range - 0-2 ksc thank u,
