What is the difference between the watt hour meter and Var
hour meter in terms of internal connection and work theory .
ie "When the meter records watt-hour an when the meter
records var hours ??"

The alternating current has two compents: one active and
one reactive. The active component produces work, it moves
the fans, the refrigerator, machine tools etc. The reactive
compoent is useless, but necessary to sustain the magnetic
fields of the induction devices. The watt-hour meter reads
the active component of the current. Both active and
reactive compoents load the feeder, therefore we might be
interested in knowing how large the reactive component isIn
that case a reactive meter is used to determine the
reactive load. The var-hour meter does not read "energy",
as energy ir work related and reactive power does not
produce useful work. For more details see "Reacive Power
