in transformer the unit of power is in kva why?
Answer Posted / disha rane
In a transformer, the copper losses depend on current and the iron losses depend on voltage. Thus, the total losses depend on volt ampere and not on the phase angle i.e. independent of load pf. Hence rating in kVA and not kW.
