Assume an AC sin supply then when measurement is taken,
then the test instrument used could be crossed over. The
same result however will be as positive. This also assumes
the voltage is in phase with the current. You can not have
negative power. Out of balance phase current and voltage
will mean inadequate supply to the load. Negative current
would need investigating.
