as the flux produce by a single phase alternates +ve and -ve. during +ve half cycle of flux, rotor of the motor try to move to one side to couple its megnetic poles to the stator poles (stator poles change at 50c/sec) but the next half cycle it try to move the other side to couple its megnetic poles to the stator poles, due to inertia and fastly change in megnetic pole does not allow the rotor to couple its megnetic poles to the stator alternating pole which results the failure of motor rotation. capacitor produce a split phase which make its own alternating flux 90 degree to the parent flux. thus as the orignal flux comes to its peak +ve value the split flux value become 0 degree.the rotor try to rotate one side and as the orignal flux comes to 180 the split flux by the capacitor comes to 90 and try to couple the megntic fields of rotor and stator.thus the rotor rotates

Given a collection of points P in the plane, a 1-set is a point in P that can be separated from the rest by a line; i.e. the point lies on one side of the line while the others lie on the other side. The number of 1-sets of P is denoted by n1(P). The maximum value of n1(P) over all configurations P of 19 points in the plane is 18
