we use 3 phase supply for induction motor why not use two
phase supply .
Answer Posted / t lakshmi narayana
Why because two phase supply cannot work.Let us consider 2
phase a,b.If a=0 then b=180 electrical degrees apart. Both
are out of phase i.e net torque is equal to zero.
Electrical degree = 360/phases.
In 2 phase it is 180
In 3 phase it is 120 which gives a torque.

A 100KVA SINGLE PHASE TRANSFORMER 10000/200V,50HZ REQUIRES 300V AT HV SIDE TO CIRCULATE FULL LOAD CURRENT WITH LV SHORT CIRCUITED.THE INTAKE IS 1000W.THE % OF REGULATION ON FULL LOAD AT 0.8 PF LAGGING WILL BE HOW MUCH AND THE SECONDARY TERMINAL VOLTAGE ON 0.8 PF LEADING WILL BE
The power factor of the fixed load is 0.8, now the p.f is varying from 0.8 to 0.5.
