why the motor is rated as kw& transformer as kva
Answer Posted / r.v.giribabu
rating of the any equipment is specified depending upon the
usage.
since motor is mechanical device which delivers the
mechanical output, so the amount of Mechanical output to be
specified. further, Voltage, PF also specified for
identifying suitability of installation of the motor and
efficiency for effectiveness of the motor.
In Transformers, Output and Input is Purely KVA. losses,
capacity of tranformer only depends on KVA and Voltage . KW
change or PF change will not effect the losses and capacity
where it is installed.
thats why the motor is rated as kw& transformer as kva.
