Why are the HV motors are connected in star connection?

In Star connected HT Motors , stator applied phase voltage
reduced by root 3 times so Current would be redueced
equivalant to this as well as stator Line current is equal
to phase current.
In Delta connected winding full line voltage(equal to phase
voltage) is applied on each phase so stator current would
be higher (root 3 times more than star connections).
