why transformer rating is mentioned in kva?

Answer Posted / srinivasa rao talasila

Transformer is having two types of losses to find out the
efficiency.Copper losses are depending on the Current and
to find the iron losses we will apply rated voltage in OC
Test.
Efficiency=outpu/output+Losses

So,efficincy is independent of the power factor in
transformer thats why we will use KVA instesd of KW
