Why does a fractionating column does not catch fire even
though it operates at temperature greater than 400 degree C ?
Answer Posted / वै
(This answer is purely based on my thermodynamics knowledge i gained till now)
Fire can only be produced in case of a combustion reaction.
And it can take place only if their is any free radical or unstable compound which can react with oxygen. It does not depend on temperature at all. So as fractionating column contains a mixture of two stable compouds, their is no chance of catching fire in the column, what so ever be the temperature.
