it is used to improve power system operation by controlling
power factor.
It is produced in inductive(lagging) and
capacitive(leading)elements. Reactive Power represents the
power used in changing electric fields or magnetic fields of
circuit components, but is power that is UNAVAILABLE to
perform real work. Apparent Power is the power that the
generating circuit "thinks" it is supplying, but it equals
both reactive power and real power and only real power can
accomplish useful work like turning a motor.
