cell switching is done by atm (asynchronous transfer mode).atm is a wan tech and there are different service providers for it,it sends data into cells rather than the frames as done by a frame relay.it consists of fixed cells of 53 bytes(48 of data and 5 of header)though its faster than the frame relay but still we avoid it,its because of expensive solution,in it we need special hardwares.
