Interlock could be to protect equipment or personal. Boiler
loose water flow interlock shuts down boiler to prevent
damage. Flame eye in boiler loose signal interlock shuts off
gas to prevent explosion. Photo eye beam is broken garage
door returns to open position to keep from crushing you.
