there are 3 theories about it,,,,,

1= Dr. and Cr. drives from the 2 German words debere and
Credere. Dr. is drived from debere and Cr. is drived from
the Credere.

2 = Dr. mean debtors and Cr. mean creditors.

3= Dr. mean Debit record,, and Cr. mean credit record.

but the most authentic theory is no.1
