why the generator efficiency is greator than motor?
Answer Posted / natha
efficiency =o/p divided by i/p and i/p-losses=o/p for any machine
in generator efficiency(n) is
n=o/p divide i/p=o/p divide op+losses
for motor
n=(ip-losses) divide i/p
by simple maths first quantity is greater
consider same machine acts as both gen n motor having losses 5 units
generator(suppose op is 10) n=10/10+5=.66666
motor(suppose ip is 10units) n=10-5/10=.5
