where Pirani gauges are uesd in case of pressure measurement?
Answer Posted / anand soni
The application of the Pirani gauge to the measurement of small pressure changes is discussed. Both nickel and tungsten wires are used as filaments in the gauge. Nickel wire not only has the greater sensitivity but possesses several other advantages. The theory of the gauge is developed so that it is possible to predict the effect of change in length or diameter of the wire upon the sensitivity of the gauge. The theory also predicts that there is an optimum temperature to which the wire should be heated for maximum sensitivity of the gauge. The observed and computed values of the optimum temperature are compared. In some cases the agreement is as good as can be expected and in the others the discrepancy is easily explained. The maximum sensitivity attained is a galvanometer deflection of 1 mm for a pressure change of air equivalent to 5×10-9 mm of mercury.

I was working on calibrating turbidity transmitters endress+hauser at effluent polishing plant. We calibrated using NTU buffers. What happened is that when we immersed the sensor, everytime we raise and lower the sensor gradually, the reading will vary.my question is that is there any specifications on what is the required distance from the bottom of the container with buffer to the face of the sensor? Is it ok to install the sensor in a medium which has turbulence specially if bubbles are present?

Lux meter is the measuring device to measure the lux level of lighting fixture. in industrial sector two types of lighting fixture is being used as street lighting purpose 1. HPSV (Sodium) and 2. HPMV (Mercury). HPMV having white light which is an combination of red, blue and yellow colour, while HPSV haivng Yellow lighting. in HPSV red & blue colour will be absent. during measurement of the lux level of HPSV and HPMV fixture. 1. Lux meter can measure the actual lux level of both fixture? 2. or it will show false reading for HPSV fixture light as it has only yellow light present. please give me answer
