Why not cars which have a wheel type steering, requiring
many rotations to be made to turn the car, be replaced with
a handle type steering, like the one provided in a
autorick shaw for quicker turn?
Answer Posted / anonymous
Load on front wheel of auto is far lesser than the load on front wheels of a car so cars need an effort reduction which is achieved by a rack and a pinion.
Also at high speed even if the steering requires lesser effort, it becomes more responsive and a jerk to a handle (if used) can destablize the trajectory of motion resulting into an accident.
