A transformer is a Ac static device this known as static because there is no moving parts only energy(Voltage) means is transformed by the electromagnetic induction from primary winding to the secondary winding.
a)Distributed Transformers-which is used to step down the voltage.

b)Power Transformers - Which is used to step up the voltage.
