which motor is used in electric train...???????
Answer Posted / ramasamyseenu
in the engine side it uses two dc series motor and one 3phase induction motor and the purpose of dc motor is to give high starting current and to make the locomotive to move and to overcome the inertia offered during motion. The purpose of dc series motor is also to perform regenerative braking with 3phase induction motor. The purpose of three phase induction motor is to operate the engine in constant speed.
The motors which are connected below the train compartments are dc series motor it also complements the motion of train from rest thus by reducing load on the train.
