why Transformers power mentioned in KVA?. and why Generators
and Motors power mentioned in KW?.
Answer Posted / tapan k ghosh
The output expected from a generator or transformer is
electrical output. Electrical output contains both active
and reactive components and hence these equipment are rated
in terms of composite power,kVA i.e.sqrt(active2+reactive2).
Output expected from a motor is motive power i.e. active
one and hence motor is rated as kW.

We have a distribution transformer of 750KVA/11kv/440v and an AVR (Servo Stabilizer) of 750KVA on the LT side of distribution transformer. Also we have an ACB of 1200A on the output of distribution transformer (that is on the input of AVR). We want to have an MCCB on the output of AVR. What should be the rating?
