is it true that sanity and smoke testing done by developer
to test the basic functionality whether its working
correctly or not before proceeding further testing

Answer Posted / suman kumar.t

SMOKE testing is performed by developers,To build up there
confidence they will test all functionality before sending
to testers weather all modules are working or not

sanity testing means all testers will gather at one place
all check first all main functional but not all modules and
then they will check below factors

1 understandable

2 operatable

3 observable

4 consistency

5 simplicity

6 maintainability

7 automatblity

8 controlablity

so they will check these all factors if it is not good they
send defect to developers and wait for another version of
sut(s/w under test)and the given version is god they will
perform real testing
