why we prefer expressing the gain of an amplifier on a
logarithmic scale rather than linear scale?

for an amplifier the gain is very high.(eg:for open loop op-
amp the gain is about 20,000) so it is convinent to express
it in decibels to draw the response of thaton a graph paper
rather than linear
