Why generator field rheostat is set to maximum position and
motor field rheostat is set to minimum?

At initial condition,we have high armature current,so in order to reduce that we use 3-point starter.
Then after we to kept a constant speed.so if current decreases obviously speed increses.so thats y we decrese the flux/arm current speed increses..
