what is saturation? what role it plays in operation of
ct's,motors etc and how its affects the behaviour of the
same.

Answer Posted / yusuf.mavin

When a large current flows through the primary of a current
transformer it is stepped down and a low current flows
throughs the secondary of the c.t. however when there are
faulty currents flowing the secondary cannot bear hevy
currents so the core of the c.t gets saturated i.e. it does
not respond any further to higher currents. All the
electrons of the core are alligned and there are no more
electrons to works further this phenomenon is called
saturation. This can be avoided by applying multiple cores
to the c.t. which act as protective cores and prevent the
main secondary from burning.
