what is forward & backword tracebility matrix?

Answer Posted / leninkumar

Forward traceability matrix :
mapping of test cases towards their requirements in the form of grid or excel sheet, so that atleast one test case is written for each requirement.
it looks like..
Module-name|High level Req|Low-level Req|Req.ID| severity| author|Date|test case name|status|defect ID|...

we cam map and compare..
backward(Reverse)tracebility matrix (BRTM)-
IF u have defect ID using that u can use them to track the no.of defects for each Req, and according to that grid features are developed.

Disadvantage of RTM:
we can trace & ensure for only one requirement is mapped but not all requirements.

Note: Suggestions are always welcome
