what difference between thermal and bi-metal
over load relay?
Answer Posted / parminder singh
Bi-metal relay is a called thermal relay. when overload
current pass through thermal relay the bimetal strip tends to
expand with rise in temp. Bi-matel means, two metal strips of
diffrent temp. property attached together. when there length
increase (property of metals) with temp. rise, one strip
increase more than other one. so it bent or tilt to one side
by means of which contacts for tripping can be operate.
