What is difference between earth leakage relay and
restricted earth fault relay ?
Answer Posted / alialewesy
earth leakage relay can not distinguish the fault location
so that it works for faults inside transformer winding &
outside transformer winding ( drawback)
REF protection has the advantage of distinguishing the
fault location .
it works only for earth faults inside the transformer
winding the transformer will be tripped only for earth
fault insid their winding
th only disadvantage of REF protection is that
it can not cover the whole winding . it protect only 80-85%
of transformer winding
for the reason of CT differences & saturation of CT
so that astand by protection is needed to protect the 15%
of the unprotected winding

I just purchased a 4 position cam switch to be used to operate a 3-speed blower motor. The motor is a 10 amp motor and has 3 wires that are used to control speed. The cam switch was rated at 660V 20 amps but when I received it, I noticed that it has AC-15 operational current rating (Ie) of 4/5 amps. If I am reading the label correctly. the 4/5 amps is related to 440v/220V (Ue). Other ratings are AC-3: 5.5A, AC2: 7.5A and AC-4: 1.5A. My questions are 1) Is it safe to use this switch with the motor I have 2) what is the difference between the 20 amp Ith ratting and the Ie operational ratings?

In Power Line Communication (PLC) the wave trap is used to block communication signals from entering neighboring lines. My question is this: Why do they allow for different filtering arrangements on these wave traps? Isn't it always going to be a low pass filter since we want the power frequency to go through, and the comm signal blocked?

I have a current transformer with 1 main reading meter with transformer outside the building and a control panel having 5 CT reading meters with black round coils inside the building. I want to know, A) when current pass through the Transformers, will the current be reduced or be the same and after that B) when current pass through the CT meters with black round coils, will the current be reduced or be the same. C) in the above process will the reading of the main meter be same or different, from the total reading of all the 5 CT meters.
