why no load voltage is greater than full load voltage?
Answer Posted / pankaj rana
The no load voltage is greater than full load voltage. This
effect is called as Ferranti Effect. This effect is due to
the voltage drop across the line inductance, due to the
charging current ,being in phase with the applied voltage at
the sending end of the line. Thus both inductance and
capacitance are necessary to cause this effect. The
capacitance therefore the charging current is negligible in
short lines but significant in medium and long transmission
lines.
