The direction of conventional current is defined as the
direction of the flow of positive charges.Later, the charge
carriers were found to be electrons, posistrons ,or both in
opposite directions. In metal conductors the positive
charges are immobile and only 'negatively charged'electrons
flow.Because of electrons carry 'negative charge',the
electron motion in a conductor is the direction opposite to
that of conventional current. This convention ,though may
seem outdated ,is used worldwide.
