Earthing & grounding are different.
earthing:if the outer case of the machine (electrically
isolated) is connected with the ground for the safety of
operator ,then it is called as earthing.
grounding: if the live point(neutral point-electrically
connected) of the electrical system is connected with the
ground ,then it is called as grounding.
