active elements which generate or produce electrical energy are called active elements. e.g.batteries, generators, energy sources voltage & current source, properly biased transistors, operational amplifier, dynamos,alternators, integrated circuits, diodes,SCR, diac,triac,FET,MOSFET, TUBE DEVICES ETC while passive elements which consume rather than generate or produce electrical enargy are called passive elements. e.g.resistors,capacitors,inductors, LED'S,oscillators,electric bulb,transmission lines, load which consumes energy etc
