difference between pipe and tube

Answer Posted / rakesh mittal

pipe is identified by Nominal Bore & THIKNESS is defined by
schedule where as tube is identified by OD & thickness by
gauge
one more difference is dictated by the application.
Tubes are meant for both heat and mass transfer.(Because of
this finishing is different and dimension tolerances are
more accurate.)
Pipes on the other hand ,are for mass transfer.
