resistance the inductance and capacitance wont consume power

It is true that pure inductor and capacitor wont consume
power but since in practical case, they wont act as ideal
inductors or capacitors.there will be losses across them.
So while denoting the line losses wee need to denote as I2Z
= I2[SQRT(R2 + (Xl - Xc)2)].
