HOW TO CALCULATE THE CABLE SIZE FOR POWER CABLE, CONTROL
CABLE AND INSTRUMENT CABLE
Answer Posted / guest
In order to be able to calculate the cable size of a power
cable one should know
1)how much load it has to carry.
2)how far or the distance
3)what is the voltage
4)what type of conductor to be used.
5)have the cable manufacturers catalogue
deciding on the type of conductor example aluminum or
copper, armoured ,surface mounted or under ground and
knowing the expected load the voltage drop is calculated and
the most suitable cable size is selected which falls within
the local regulations.
Same goes for the other cables also taking into
consideration all other factors.
